Ruqia Abdi’s mission is to transform lives of parents and youth by educating them to be better. It takes a village to raise a child. Ruqia wants to re-create that village by providing cultural training to educators, social workers, and counselors. Also, by engaging Somali parents in culturally-relevant parenting workshops.

Ruqia has been a long time women and children advocate in the Somali Community. She was nominated as a Minnesota Muslim Shero by Reviving the Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment (RISE). She has been featured in many media such as the Institute of Museum and Library Services, BBC Somali, Star Tribune, and Dose of Reality TV
